Locksmiths in Quebec
We are building this province now. Quebec licenses locksmiths, so we check both the licence and the corporate registry.
No Quebec city is live yet
A city goes live only once its page carries copy written for that city and at least one business has confirmed its details. We would rather show you nothing than a page of padding.

Quebec licenses locksmiths, and it is the province most people get wrong. Locksmithing is one of six regulated private-security activities under the Private Security Act, alongside guarding, investigation, electronic security systems, transport of valuables and security consulting. Licences are issued and policed by the Bureau de la securite privee, which has run the system since July 2010.
Both halves need a licence: the company holds an agency licence, the person doing the work holds an agent licence. Getting the agent licence normally means a diploma of vocational studies in locksmithing or an equivalent recognised by the ministry of education, plus a criminal record check. There is one exemption worth knowing: a shop that only cuts copies of keys you already have is outside the Act. The moment anyone installs, repairs or opens a lock for money, both licences are required.
That gives Quebec the strictest locksmith regime in the country and a public register you can check a name against. We also match each listing to the Registraire des entreprises du Quebec, print the registration and the date we last confirmed it, and re-check monthly.
What the Bureau does not do is set a price. A Quebec locksmith is free to charge what it likes for attending, and is not required to publish it. Ours are: a listing gets a phone number once it states a call-out range and lets us date the statement.
